Many residents have reportedly fled Southern Ijaw area of Bayelsa State over fears of violence and attacks in the rescheduled State governorship election which holds tomorrow,Saturday.
The Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) has suspended Saturday’s Bayelsa State governorship election in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area — The only Local government area awaiting collation of results.
The Independent National Electoral Commission,INEC, has reported that some of its officials deployed to distribute electoral materials at Sagbama local government area of Bayelsa State are being held hostage.
Few hours to the commencement of Bayelsa's governorship election, the Joint Task Force in the Niger Delta has seized hand grenades, AK 47 rifle magazines, among other items believed to be meant for disrupting the election.
