Tallest Basketball Players Of All Time (See Photos)

Basket ball was invented in 1891 by Dr James Naismith, a Physical education Professor. It is played by  two teams consisting of 5 players with the aim of shooting a ball through a hoop that is 10 feet high at each end.  

Height is a vital aspect in this game and the average height of a basketball Player  is 6 feet 7 inches . However, some basketball Players are so exceptionally tall that they make other Players who are tall in the actual sense of the word appear to be dwarfs.
Below is a list of the tallest basketball Players ever to play the game.

Suleiman Ali Nashnun -  (1943-1991) He played Professionally for the Libyan National basketball team.  He was reported to be above 8 feet tall until he underwent a surgery to correct his abnormal growth. He measured 7 ft 10 inches during his basketball career and is regarded as one of the tallest basketballers.

Alexander Sizonenko- (1959-2012) Reputed to be the tallest Person to have ever played professional  basketball. He played for Stroitlet Kyubyshev , Spartak Leningrad  and also the Soviet national team. He was named the world’s tallest man in 1991 at 7 feet 10 inches tall.

Sun Ming ming- (1983)- He is a  Chinese basketballer who started playing  at the age of 15. He’s 7 ft 8 inches tall. He has played for several American Minor league teams and also in the Mexican and Japanese basketball league

Ri Myung Hun –(1967) Fondly called Michael  Ri due to his idolization of Michael Jordan, Ri Myung is a former South Korean basket ball Player and was once proclaimed to be the tallest living man. He stands at 7 ft 8 inches tall. Political factors however prevented him from showcasing his basketball abilities in the USA. The Associated Press ranked him as the tallest basketball Player.

Yasutaka Okayama-  He) is a Japanese basket ball player abd is the tallest Player ever drafted in NBA history. His measured height is 7 ft 8 inches.

Neil Fingleton-  (1980) He is the tallest British born human. He has played professionally for CB Illescas (Spain), CB Ciudad Real (Spain), Tees Valley Mohawks (England) and Boston Frenzy (USA). He retired in 1997 after sustaining an career threatening injury. Neil Fingleton’s measured  height is  7 ft 7.56 inches

Paul Sturgess- (1987)- He is an English professional basketball player with a measured height of 7 ft 26 inches. He was reanked as the tallest ever college basketball player in the United states  and is the second tallest Professional basketball Player in the world.

Kenny George – An American basketball Player whose height is speculated to be between 7 ft 7 inches and 7 ft 9 inches.  His right foot was partly amputated  due to a methichillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus infection which marred  his basket ball carrer.

Gheorge Muresan- (1971) He is a Romanian retired basketballer and also the tallest Romanian. He played in the NBA from 1993-2000. His measured height is 7 ft 7 inches.

Manute Bol-  (1962-2010)  A Sudanese born American basketball Player and is ranked as one of the 2 tallest basketball players in the history of the NBA. His arm span which measured 8 ft6 inches is the longest in NBA history. He played professionally for Rhode island Gulls, Washington bullets, Golden state warriors, Philadelphia 76ers and Miami heat.
