FIFA President, Sepp Blatter and UEFA President Michael Platini suffered more woes as they were on Monday, slammed with eight years ban from all football activities by the adjudicatory chamber of the ethics committee with immediate effect.
In a 40-page statement by the apex football body, the adjudicatory chamber of the ethics headed by Hans-Joachim Eckert announced that both men have been banned from all football related activities inclusive of administrative, sports or any related matter(s) on a national and international level.
The punishments against both men is based on charges of offering and accepting gifts, conflict of interest andviolating their fiduciary duty to FIFA as a result of a payment of 2,000,000 (#1.3m) transferred in February 2011 from FIFA to Platini.
The authorisation of the payment was made by Sepp Blatter in his position as FIFA President. The transaction had no legal basis has there was no written agreement signed between both officials.
Sepp Blatter's assertion on an oral agreement was considered not convincing and rejected by the chamber.
Added to their lenthy bans is a fine of #33,000 for Blatter and #53,000 for Platini.
Michael Platini will also be ineligible to contest for the next FIFA Presidency election as the football power house elects a new President to succeed Sepp Blatter and his position as UEFA President has been forfeited.
