The Western senatorial district of Kogi State have coerced its elders to plead with the deputy governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), James Faleke to withdraw from contesting the election that brought Yahaya Bello as the state governor.
According to Naij.com, the communique was issued at the end of its meeting on Tuesday, December 22, by the three top members of the group; Migbole Samuel, Richard Asaje and Muhammed Musa.
The group stated that the Party's supremacy should prevail over personal gains and urged the deputy governor elect to accept the position the Party allocated to him on the election.
The statement reads: “That we accept the divine intervention of God for granting us the desired power shift or power rotation. That the West and Central senatorial districts have agreed to stand on the path of unity and hold on the two positions of governor and deputy governor bestowed on us by God. That we declare our solemn and total support for the governor-elect, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, and ensure his success; otherwise his failure is ours and not his.”

James Faleke had earlier opposed the election of Yahaya Bello as Kogi state governor due to the death of Abubakar Audu on Sunday, November 22, after the election was declared inconclusive by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
James Falake had written to the INEC asking them to declare him as winner of the polls and has stated he wasn't planning on going back until he is declared governor of the state, a position he believes he is legally entitled.
