Nigeria's President, Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday, apologised to Nigerians over the fuel scarcity issue that has crippled the economic and social activities in many parts of the country for the past three months. PM News reports.
President Buhari made this statement on Tuesday while presenting the 2016 budget to a joint session of the National Assembly in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.
The cause of the scarcity, as revealed by the President, was due to the refusal of stakeholders in the petroleum industry to embrace 'change',
He further assured Nigerians he is embarking on plans towards resolving the issue has he had charged the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, (NNPC), “to explore ways to end the scarcity as quickly as possible.”
On Monday,Nigeria's Information Minister ,Lai Mohammed pointed accusing fingers at the administration of erstwhile President, Goodluck Jonathan for the current fuel scarcity by refusing to pay marketers subsidy claims owed them since 2014.
