Christmas Celebration Turns Lamentation As Explosion Roasts Over 100 To Death

The period meant for celebrations became one of tears and lamentations as tragedy raised its ugly head on Thursday in the industrial town of Nnewi,Anambra state where an industrial gas plant exploded leaving over 100 persons burnt to death. 


Eye Witnesses  report that the fire incident was as a result of an explosion that rocked the Inter Corp oil company (LPG Gas Plant) when a truck was discharging its contents.

According to a report by Vanguard, all the customer who went to the gas plant purchase gas were allegedly burnt to death and some of the other victims include workers, people who were in the neighbourhood and Passers-by who got caught in the outbreak.

Rescue workers were deterred from gaining entry into the factory to rescue victims as a result of the inferno that left more than a hundred persons trapped.

The charred bodies of the victims and severely burnt persons were taken to the Nnamdi Azikwe Teaching Hospital (NAUTH) in Nnewi.
